Breakfast Gathering Outlines HSX Value and Progress for Executives

Friday, May 22, 2015

On May 22, 2015 — High atop the Independence Blue Cross tower in Philadelphia — HSX gathered chief executive officers and other leaders from its membership to learn more about HSX progress and next steps — and to see what investment in HSX has yielded to date.

Key themes were hospitals and health plans working together in a collaborative environment in which health information exchange has gained increasing traction.

HSX staff members Pam Clarke, Jennifer Natale, and Marty Lupinetti led the discussion.

Attendees enjoyed a value discussion that included:

  • a review of the original HSX business proposition;
  • an illustration and mapping of health information exchange currently underway in the greater Delaware Valley region via HSX, including current membership, members involved in active exchange, discharge CCD (continuity of care document) activity, Clincal Activity History activity, and Encounter Notification Service activity (see Prezi below);
  • a presentation of the strategic roadmap of next steps, including an update on HSX financial sustainability.
A Q&A session that followed included discussion of exchange at the state level in Pennsylvania, the importance of clinical and business leader champions in advancing health information exchange, and growth of HSX membership.
