HealthShare Exchange Achieves HITRUST Risk-Based Two-Year Certification Continue Managing Risk, Improving Security Posture and Meeting Compliance Requirements

Philadelphia, PA – December 12, 2022 – HealthShare Exchange (HSX) today announced that its data analytics and hosting systems, data integration tools, HSX Access (formerly HSX MarketStreet) APIs and HSX infrastructure have earned Certified status for information security from HITRUST. As an industry leader in clinical data sharing to support care management, quality improvement and population health for the Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware healthcare communities, attaining and maintaining Certified status is a key priority for the company.

By achieving HITRUST Risk-based, 2-year (r2) Certified status, HSX is demonstrating that its systems have met key regulations and industry-defined requirements and is appropriately managing risk. The HITRUST Assurance program helps organizations address security and data protection challenges through a comprehensive and flexible framework of prescriptive and scalable security controls, including federal, state and industry regulations, standards and frameworks.

“We understand the level of trust that consumers and our member organizations place in HSX when allowing their healthcare information to traverse our networks – and we do not take that lightly,” said Brian Wells, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer/Chief Information Security Officer at HealthShare Exchange. “The HSX team is committed to meeting or exceeding industry standards to ensure the security and privacy of patient data – and we’re proud to demonstrate that commitment through assessments like the HITRUST r2 certification.”

The HITRUST r2 is considered the gold standard for information protection assurances because of the comprehensiveness of control requirements, depth of quality review, and consistency of oversight. It is globally recognized as a high-level validation that an organization successfully manages cyber risks.

“The HITRUST Assurance Program is the most rigorous available, consisting of a multitude of quality assurance checks, both automated and manual,” said Bimal Sheth, Executive Vice President, Standards Development & Assurance Operations, HITRUST. “The fact that HSX has achieved HITRUST Risk-based, 2-year Certification attests to the high quality of their information risk management and compliance program.”
