HealthShare, the regional HIE covering the Philadelphia metro region was initiated in 2011. HealthShare is a collaborative made up of both Health Plan and Hospital System servicing a predominantly Medicaid client population. HealthShare has effectively gained commitment and resources from Health Plans and Hospital Systems – with over 90% of those in the region participating financially. This session will describe best practices, approaches and tools to gain initial stakeholder buy-in and then ensure sustainability beyond the early years. The session will focus on the requirements to obtain Medicaid financial support, how to align services with Meaningful Use requirements and how to price services for the long-term sustainability of the HIE.
