CHOP Latest Major Med Center to Use HSX Encounter Notification
This fall, HSX announced that The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) had recently begun providing admission, discharge, and transfer (ADT) data to HealthShare Exchange. CHOP’s ADTs were added to data supporting HSX’s Encounter Notification Service (ENS). Late in 2017, CHOP also began using ENS itself, receiving encounter alerts when one of its patients has a hospital or emergency department visit. Taking advantage of these invaluable notifications, health system and independent ambulatory practitioners, health plans, and accountable care organizations participating in ENS know when their patients receive care at more than 50 medical facilities across the region.
HSX Annual Offsite Brings Focus on Service Expansion, Pop. Health, and HIE Champions
In November, at the Union League in Philadelphia, HealthShare Exchange gathered healthcare executives and HIT leaders, as well as trustees, staff, and committee and workgroup members for a day of updates and progress. HSX Participates in Leading-Edge Health Info. Tech. Testing Sessions
In Cleveland, January 16-18, HSX participated in the annual IHE North American (NA) Connectathon 2018, the health information technology industry’s largest interoperability testing event. IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise) has been a leading contributor to health IT product validation and interoperability. IHE USA monitors innovative technology developments. HSX participated in the event’s Plug-a-thons, which extend the continuum of testing activities and explore the potential for new technology to improve healthcare workflows before a defined standard or profile is established, thus rapidly moving the innovations forward. In Plug-a-thon tracks, HSX promoted topics related to its Market Street endeavor, as well as to mHealth (mobile) apps and the IOT-M (the internet-of-things in medicine). HSX also engaged with other participants on its recently introduced FHIR™ server, to explore data sharing with medical devices and other systems.
