Noble Health Alliance Joins HealthShare Exchange

Fort Washington, Pa. / Philadelphia, Pa., October 16, 2015 — Noble Health Alliance has joined HealthShare Exchange of Southeastern Pennsylvania (HSX), greatly expanding Noble’s access to data that can improve the clinically integrated network’s patient care and lower healthcare costs.  The nonprofit HSX is a health information organization, supported by some 40 hospitals and three health plans serving Philadelphia and its surrounding counties.  HSX has established the Delaware Valley’s regional health information exchange (HIE).

Founded in 2014, Noble is a cooperative venture of Aria Health SystemCrozer-Keystone Health System, and the Einstein Healthcare Network to provide clinically integrated care to approximately 27,000 employees and dependents enrolled in the health systems’ Noble medical benefit plan, and to other patients in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.  More than 2,200 primary care and specialty physicians participate in the Noble physician network.  Aria, Crozer-Keystone, and Einstein are also founding members of HSX.

“One important foundation of clinically integrated care is getting timely clinical data,” said David Lainoff, MD, Noble’s medical director.  “By joining HSX, Noble now has access to near real-time information when our enrolled patients are admitted or discharged, not only from Noble-participating hospitals, but almost every hospital in the Delaware Valley.  This information helps our Care Team identify Noble-enrolled patients who can benefit from care coordination and health management services. That helps improve care and lower costs.”

The Noble Care Team—which includes nurse navigators and health coaches—will also be able to take advantage of HSX’s Direct secure messaging to and from healthcare providers.  These messages can include recent medical history and other clinical information and guidance, for use in making care more effective.

“We are excited that Noble Health Alliance is part of our growing membership, as it represents advanced care-management opportunities for the region’s patients,” said Pamela Clarke, Senior Director of Member Services and Policy at HSX.  “The value of health information exchange is significant for coordinating the care of individuals and improving health across populations.”

“Noble and HSX share a mission of supporting the provision of high-quality, cost-effective care,” Dr. Lainoff said. “Joining HSX is an important step in Noble’s progress toward that goal.”
