Padula Honored As HIE Champion at HSX Board Meeting

BOARD RECOGNIZES FINAL 2013 RECIPIENT OF HIE CHAMPIONS AWARD

At its May 2014 board of trustees meeting, HealthShare Exchange, honored Michael Padula, MD, for championing health information exchange.

Mike’s work in advancing clinical data interoperability in the Delaware Valley and his vital contributions to HSX have had an important impact on the development of a regional HIE for the greater Philadelphia area.  Mike joins five other distinguished recipients of this recognition for 2013.

A neonatologist at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Mike was an original member of HealthShare Exchange’s Technology Standards Committee.  He championed a direction, approach, and data format for HSX’s initial use cases.  He also raised awareness of structured data formats and emerging standards that HealthShare Exchange would eventually adopt and align to for implementation with early adopters.

HealthShare Exchange recognizes Mike as a 2013 HIE Champion for his efforts in “raising the bar” in these early conversations about data standards.  His input will help participants align around Meaningful Use goals and move to the forefront of health information exchange.
