On September 18th, 2014, HealthShare Exchange’s Senior Director of Member Services and Policy, Pamela Clarke, presented on the membership, finances, and implementation status of HSX during a panel at the 8th annual Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) Fall Institute, at the Hilton Philadelphia City Avenue. The association brings together finance staff primarily from hospital health systems.
Joining Clarke on the panel on healthcare convergence, was Former Executive Vice President and President, CHE Division of CHE Trinity Health, Peter L. DeAngelis, Jr.,; President and CEO of Doylestown Hospital, James Brexler; Senior Vice President, Chief Actuary of Independence Blue Cross, Kathryn A. Galarneau; Principle of Health Strategies & Solutions, Robert F. Hill, Jr.; and Partner with Rhoads & Simon, LLP, Ernest L. Tsoules. Attendees at the discussion were given a look at the implications of the merger and acquisition strategies in the Philadelphia health system marketplace and how they impact the financial viability of non-profit organizations.
Hosted by the Metropolitan Philadelphia Chapter of HFMA, the yearly institute is an educational event that immerses attendees in opportunities to learn more about the changing trends in the healthcare field. The healthcare finance professionals in attendance visited the HSX exhibit and learned more about the progress and future plans of their Delaware Valley HIE.
