Dr. Cacciamani previously served as the 149th President of The Philadelphia County Medical Society and Chief of Clinical Operations and Informatics, and Assistant Professor of Medicine, at Temple University Hospital. In addition to his administrative role, Dr. Cacciamani continues in a limited medical practice providing care for inpatients and outpatients and advising residents in the Family Practice Residency Teaching Program at Chestnut Hill Hospital.
While at Temple University Hospital, Dr. Cacciamani practiced and taught general internal medicine and geriatrics both in the inpatient and ambulatory settings. His administrative responsibilities included leadership to help improve revenue, patient flow, and quality care. His role involved coordinating efforts across departments, including utilization review, case management, finance, transfer center, bed management, clinical decision unit, nursing, and physicians. In addition to hospital operations, he also directly managed the departments of physician order entry system, web services and IT training in the Hospital Information Systems Department. Dr. Cacciamani was Assistant Professor of Medicine and also Associate Director of the Institute on Aging at Temple University.
Dr. Cacciamani’s professional experience includes past roles as Acting Chief Medical Officer for Temple Hospital and Chief of Clinical Operations and Medical Informatics at Temple University Health System. He was Medical Director of Geriatric Services at Health Partners where he provided strategic management for Medicare and Medicaid HMOs. As, the principle consultant for Fundamental Health Inc., he provided strategic healthcare consulting for physician practices, managed care organizations, pharmaceutical marketing departments and private equity investment firms.
Dr. Cacciamani was raised in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Scranton where he majored in Biology and minored in Business Administration. He was awarded a medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and earned an MBA in operations and information systems at the Wharton School of Business.
Dr. Cacciamani completed the residency program in internal medicine and a fellowship in geriatric medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He also completed an informatics fellowship at the Veterans Administration Hospital and the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics, where he helped improve the VA’s electronic medical record system. Dr. Cacciamani holds specialty certifications from the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine.
Dr. Cacciamani has served on the board of directors for the Philadelphia Health Care Trust Fund, Chestnut Hill Business Association, Parent Infant Center of Philadelphia, and Mt. Airy USA Board of Directors.
Dr. Cacciamani has been a dedicated, active member of The Philadelphia County Medical Society (PCMS), Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the American Medical Association since 2004. He has served on the PCMS Board of Directors as Secretary and President in addition to being the Vice Chair of the Delegation to the PAMED House of Delegates.
Dr. Cacciamani is a member of several professional organizations including the Delaware Valley Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, American Geriatrics Society, Institute on Aging, and the American College of Physician Executives. He also serves as a fellow in The College of Physicians of Philadelphia.
Dr. Cacciamani is an honoree of Who’s Who among American Colleges and Universities; named 40 under 40 of the Philadelphia Business Journal, named 2012 Business Journal “Emerging Executive of the Year” and “Physician MBA of the Year.” He is a member of William Osler Society of Fellows in Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and has been named Becker’s National Health Care Top 100 Physician Leaders of Hospitals, 2012-2017.
