Experts Wade in On Connectivity and the MarketStreet Platform in Forward-Looking Panel Event Held by HSX for Philly Tech Week

Marty Lupinetti, President of Healthshare Exchange, welcomed the accomplished panelists and introduced the discussion, describing how HSX has amassed a vast clinical data repository that grows daily with patient health and medical information. He explained that this expansive database and clinical information infrastructure for real-time and longitudinal health and healthcare information on nearly 9 million individuals in the Greater Philadelphia region is now accessible for entrepreneurs wishing to develop new products, services, and applications.

Steve Barsh, Managing Partner at well-known start-up incubator Dreamit Ventures, opened and moderated the panel.  He discussed HSX Market Street’s provision of data access as a related area of activity to Dreamit’s programs that provide start-ups with direct access to customers, investors, executives, and thought leaders, including in health technology such as digital health, medical device, and diagnostics start-ups.

Rakesh Mathew, Chief Innovation Officer at HealthShare Exchange elaborated on HSX MarketStreet’s unique model of secure exchange of record updates from insurers and providers, as a marketplace that creates opportunity for creation of new companies and jobs.  Entrepreneurs with start-up ideas, and companies building new offerings, can now quickly overcome access barriers to consumer health-record information.

Gary Zimmer, MD, Chief Medical Officer of the digital health company Quil Health –– a joint venture of Independence Health Group (Independence) and Comcast –– reflected on HSX Market Street’s potential role in improving continuity of care and longitudinal tracking of patients.  New products and services resulting could complement Quil’s objective of delivering actionable and personalized health itineraries for patients and caregivers.

Adam Dicker, MD, Director of the Jefferson Center for Digital Health & Data Science, Jefferson Health, reflected on MarketStreet as part of the convergence of technology and data in healthcare and medicine that is moving toward improving healthcare delivery and outcomes, engaging patients, expanding population-based research, creating and mining data repositories, and supporting positive health behaviors.

Martin Entwistle, President and CEO of Ares Health Systems, saw MarketStreet as the kind of development needed for providing services for the design, development, and deployment of large-scale personalized care solutions that drive sustained patient engagement, integrate with clinical workflows, and advance population health outcomes.

The session concluded with an enthusiastic networking session among the panelists, HSX team members, entrepreneurs, business representatives, and health information technology professionals who attended.
